Fireman's Parade 2010
Pouring rain, thunder rolling around and a tornado warning didn't stop the traditional Firemen's Parade on the last day of WVFD's Homecoming. For safety reasons the WHS Band and the EL Alumni Band withdrew from the parade and there were probably others that thought better too. One of the ville's police officers commented it was dedication balancing an umbrella on our shoulder with camera in hand getting pictures. We considered it bordering on stupidity but we were there anyway.
We weren't alone. There were a few brave souls like the Potter Players and the Shriner's Tin Lizzie Patrol. The Firemen wasn't about to let any stinking rain spoil their parade!
In addition to the two groups mentioned above were the following units: VFDs had units from Irondale, Knoxville, Toronto, West Point, Highlandtown, Titonsville, St.Clair TWP., and Monaca, PA. Other units in the parade were the WPD, Froggy from WELA Radio, Tri-County & Lifeteam Ambulance and the Ohio State Patrol.
It was a short but, as usual, loud parade with all the sirens blaring. The kids were showered with candy everywhere they were spotted. Little Avery shown in the lower left of the collage was prepared for the loud. She's shown here with Grandma Nancy and is the great-grandaughter of Peggy Lloyd.
By the time we got to the carnival we were informed the tornado warning was cancelled and the rain had stopped. Other than getting a little wet no one was in danger.
