BWD Engineering Committee

Wednesday - June 16: The Buckeye Water District Engineering Committee held a Progress Meeting Wednesday morning on Part B of the Salineville Waterline Project. The meeting was held at the Water Treatment Plant with representatives of Tucson Inc., Dallis Dawson Assocs. and BWD officials. Tucson is the contractor installing the second part of the new water line that runs from near the BWD reservoir to Salineville. When completed District Manager Al DeAngelis said the district will be running water from one side of the county to the other on into Carroll County. The Salineville water tank sits in Carroll County.

Tucson Job Foreman Ed Crawford reported that by the middle of next week Part B should be completed except for the installation of a Pressure Relief Valve (PRV). There is approximately 600 feet of pipe to be laid and reclamation is nearly 70% completed. Additional pipe should have been delivered Wednesday afternoon. Crawford noted if it wasn't for the rain delays and the unplanned for solid lime stone encountered the job would have been done by now. With changes necessitated by working around the stone the contractor came up short on the amount of pipe needed.

Earlier snafus in the model of PRV needed delayed the ordering of the valve earlier in the project. It is scheduled to be delivered July 12. Electrical work by AEP personnel should be completed this week. Documentation matters were discussed with Joyce Gray of RCAP. RCAP is administering the CDBG grant obtained by the Village of Salineville. Pressure testing is being conducted on sections already and the static pressure is holding very well. Static pressure is the measured pressure held in the line of non-flowing water.

Next Progress Meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, June 30 at 10 A.M. at the Water Treatment Plant.

Following the meeting with Tucson plans were discussed for a final, punch list inspection on Part A of the project with Sugar Excavating. Sugar has completed reclamation work that was delayed by winter weather. It was noted that Part A was only around $200,000 over the original estimate. The addition of the Crews Road extension accounted for $130,000 of that amount.
