WHS Football Two-A-Days Started

Monday - August 2: The Wellsville High School 2010 Tiger Football Team got down to business this afternoon on the practice field behind Nicholson Stadium. The two-a-day practices began at 3 P.M. While the team was doing their warm-ups with stretching and running Head Coach Dave Skinner was being interviewed by a reporter from Youngstown's WKBN - Channel 27. That interview will be aired sometime next week as part of a football special being put together by the station.

About 33 players turned out for first day drills with another five standing on the side line since they didn't have their physical forms. With the enthusiasm and determination we saw we believe the Tigers will putting up some good numbers this season. All that weight training and conditioning will be paying some dividends.

The Tigers open the season on Thursday, August 26 when they take on the Red Knights at Toronto. They open their home schedule against the East Palestine Bull Dogs Friday, September 3. There will be two scrimmages at home. The first will be with East Canton Saturday morning at 10 A.M. on August 14 and the second will be against Crestview, 7 P.M., August 19. Meet the Tigers night is scheduled for Tuesday evening, August 24.

On hand to wish the Tigers well in their new season was former Weirton & WVU stand-out running back Quincy Wilson. Wilson went on to play some pro ball with the Cincinnati Bengals.

Go Tigers!
