Every year Wellsville's SOI Lodge awards three $1,000 scholarships as part of the Annual Italian Festival to graduating seniors that plan to further their education. This year the third scholarship went un-rewarded. A SOI spokesman said that the other applicants either didn't meet the deadline for applying or failed to meet the required qualifications.
Shown here are this year's recipients Chris Weeda (L) and Josh Benedetto. Chris is the son of Robin & John Weeda. Josh is the son of Ruth & Frank Benedetto. Also pictured here is this year's Festival's Co-chairmen Joe Traina presenting the award to Josh and Rocco Dalonzo presenting Chris with his award.
