Charlie Wilson Stops By Italian Festival

Day 2 of the Italian Festival brought us a surprised visit by our U.S. Congressman Charlie Wilson. Shown here, from the left, are Wellsville residents Lisa Ceneviva, Jean Saracco, Earl Betz, Congressman Wilson and Italian Festival Clean-up Committee Chairman Jimmy Saracco. Think Congressman Wilson wanted to see first hand what a great festival the members of the S.O.I. puts on for the past 13 years.

The third day of the festival this evening wraps up this year's event with opening ceremonies at 6 P.M. Students Chris Weeda & Josh Benedetto will be awarded scholarships as part of tonight's festivities. Weeda will be attending Westminster College this fall studying business & pre-law. Benedetto will be attending Youngstown State majoring in electrical engineering. The scholarships are sponsored by Wellsville Sons of Italy Lodge 657.

On tap for entertainment is Mirella - The Musician at 6:30 followed by Italian crooner Aaron Caruso at 8:18. At 9:30 P.M. the ever popular Rt. 45 Band will take the stage. They are a local group that always draw a crowd with just their followers.

Come early, stay late... You won't be disappointed. You gotta try one of those "Italian Steak" (fried bologna) sandwiches that Jo Jo Dalonzo & his crew are putting together. Jo Jo is Nick's father of Wellsville's Dalonzo's Pizza. Good cooking runs in the family.

See ya there...

Guts - You got the intestinal fortitude to say what everyone else thinks but you seem to be thinking out of your "posterior".

Two of those people in that picture reside outside of the Village and get water from a well. Mrs. Saracco told me they went to a generous friend's house to clean up and also using well water.

No one in town had water - not even the SOI, unless it was bottled. I saw a lot of bottles of hand sanitizer all around yesterday.

Neighbors helping neighbors was what saved the day. It's what makes our community a great place to live. The missus & I got three invitations to shower up from friends that do not live in town. If you didn't get offered something similar it must be because of your bitter, narrow minded petty thought logic.
