Italian Festival (Day 3) 2009

The 13th Annual S.O.I. Lodge #657 sponsored Italian Festival is now one for the books. This year's festival closed out Saturday evening August 8. Every year it seems to get better and better and as testimony to that were the thousands that attended the three day event. At times from 3rd Street to 4th one could hardly get from spot to another on Main Street without bumping into someone. Many times that someone was a person you haven't seen for awhile. Some plan their vacations around this drawing friends and Wellsville natives from all around the country. Then there are the residents of the ville adding to the festivities. From young to old there were many folks I saw all three nights who seemed to be enjoying it more each time.

If asked what I enjoyed the most I would be hard pressed to answer. The entertainment throughout was excellent. The food available was delicious and there was an enormous variety to satisfy anyone's appetite. The camaraderie with everyone was beyond compare. You'll find that just about any time in Wellsville and the friendliness during the festival just emphasizes that point. Like the 5 Year All Class Reunion and the annual Riverside Reunion the Italian Festival annually provides another home coming thoroughly enjoyed by all.

Congratulations to this year's Co-chairmen Rocco Dalonzo & Joe Traina and all the members of the SOI Lodge for once again putting on what appears to me to have been another very successful festival. You folks did an outstanding job of carrying on the tradition and it was greatly appreciated. There was a lot of hard work getting ready & running it and you made Wellsville proud.

As they say in Hollywood and with the articles below "that's a wrap". There's a lot of pictures and don't forget you can click on any one of them to enlarge for a better look. It's been said that a picture is worth a thousand words. Shown above is a few thousand of them. Hope you enjoy them as much as I did taking them.

I'm already anticipating Italian Festival XIV. See ya next year...
