Boil Order Lifted - 8/11/09

A boil order for our water has been lifted this afternoon according to Buckeye Water District officials. Following a series of several water main breaks and a broken valve the village's was shut off this past Friday morning. It was off for nearly 36 hours until they were able to get water flowing and back up to pressure late Saturday evening.

For safety reasons a boil order is automatic following the resumption of supplying water to the district's customers. While this order is in effect the water is constantly tested for contaminants until it can be determined to be safe to consume and well within the EPA required range for potable water.

We're good to go. Bottoms up...

Thank you for the information. Much better than waiting for tomorrows newspaper. Out of curiosity , do you know ( I don't ) if there ever was any contaminants in the water , or if it was just a precaution. There are boil orders and boil advisories, and actually they are different, much like a tornado watch and a tornado warning.

I didn't actually ask that question. When a water line like that breaks some dirt gets sucked into the line. It was in effect for nearly three days. That was after several breaks in the old line.

In the papers this morning it was called a "precautionary boil order".

Talked to the Water Treatment Plant Superintendent in regards to testing. He told me there is no such thing as "satisfactory" in our water quality. There is no in between a negative or positive test for water quality.

The type of test they use after a line break is repaired is normally done about 10 times a month. After getting water back Saturday night there were 12 such tests done starting this past Sunday. Water samples are taken from different locations in the village.
