Italian Festival Day 1







The 13th Annual Wellsville Italian Festival got started off Thursday evening, August 6, with opening ceremonies, the Frank Gallo Band, a large variety of food choices, games, dancing, the Sara Michelle Band and friends & neighbors getting together. The was even a horse & carriage ride to enjoy.






Shown here are this year's Co-chairmen Rocco DaLonzo & Joe Traina welcoming the crowd. Master-of-Ceremony duties was handled by Steve Creature and remarks were made by Mayor Joe Surace & past Chairman Nunzio Lombardozzi. Lombardozzi said it started out as a mini-festival averaging around 1,200 visitors for the three day event. Now that average is over 5,000. The Frank Gallo Band has performed every year at this S.O.I. sponsored festival.


The musicians that make up the Sara Michelle band have many years experience in the business but have only been together as a group for two years. Lead singer Sara Michelle has performed in Nashville. One of the guitar players & vocalist is Calcutta's Jim Sabatini.

The festivities continue tonight & Saturday. Friday night's schedule is opening ceremonies at 6 P.M. followed by the Rocky Chichilagi Band taking the stage at 6:15. At 9:30 P.M. the very popular & local Silver Eagle Band continue the entertainment along with the games and food. Admission is free and open to the public. Temporary S.O.I. Club memberships are available.
