Wellsville Elks Install New Officers


The Wellsville Benevolent & Protective Order of Elks Lodge 1040 held installation of officers for the 2011/2012 Lodge Year this past Monday. Except for the trustees all officers serve for only one year. Trustees serve five year terms.

The installation ceremony was held at the Lodge located at 723 Riverside and Past District Deputy Donald Bennett served as the installing officer. The Elks District Deputy represents the Grand Lodge. Bennett is also a member of Wellsville Lodge 1040.

Shown here after being sworn in from the left is Nick DaLonzo, Esquire; Mark Geon, Leading Knight; Mary Lynn Hunter, Inner Guard; Jay Hamilton, Lecturing Knight; Chuck Gamble, Loyal Knight; Jeff Haugh, Exalted Ruler; Susan Haugh, Secretary; Doug Verzella, Five Year Trustee; Steve Davis, Chaplain & Ryan Smith, Treasurer. Not pictured is Tiler Jim Whittla. Whitta was sworn in but had to leave immediately after the ceremony for work.

With over a 141 year history there are just under one million members in more than 2000 Lodges nationwide. Their stated mission is to inculcate the principles of Charity, Justice, Brotherly Love and Fidelity; to recognize a belief in God; to promote the welfare and enhance the happiness of its Members; to quicken the spirit of American patriotism; to cultivate good fellowship; to perpetuate itself as a fraternal organization, and to provide for its government, the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks of the United States of America will serve the people and communities through benevolent programs, demonstrating that Elks Care and Elks Share.
