WHS Baseball Teams Trounced

The nemesis of Wellsville high school athletes can be spelled M-C-D-O-N-A-L-D. We all know the Tigers are the better athletes but for some reason it seems they just can't handle the McDonald Blue Devils, in any sport.

Results from baseball games this past Monday and yesterday just reiterated that point. Although it seems the coaches aren't bothering to send the game results to the newspapers we were told that both the guys and the gals were soundly beaten at McDonald on Monday. The Blue Devils came to town yesterday and continued the trouncing up in Hammonds Park.

Since the coaches don't fax the game results into the newspapers after the games we have no idea what the scores were for Monday's match ups. Yesterday the men's team lost to McDonald 19 - 3 in five innings. We didn't have the heart to check out the final for the Lady's softball game but it ended in five innings also.

With the recent loses the men's baseball team falls to 2 & 4 on the young season. The Lady's go to 4 & 2. Better times are ahead.

The Softball Team returns to action Friday with a double header at Oak Glen. The guys take on Lisbon for a double header on Saturday at home.

Pictured above is Softball pitcher Brittany Thomas zinging one to the plate yesterday. The "Bad News Bears" bumbling a pop fly in center field will remain nameless. Normally we wouldn't show a picture like that but it was sort of the theme for the day.

Coaches: You have to get those results into the papers. The papers don't have the personnel to cover all the games. You're dissing your players by not bothering to fax the stats in. Win, lose or draw they deserve to get some recognition for all their hard efforts. We think you agree.

Good Luck Tigers! We're proud of you...
