WHS Lady Tigers Go to 0 & 2

The young Lady Tigers Basketball team opened their season this past Tuesday at East Liverpool. The Lady Tigers have only one senior on the team and only two returning letter winners from last year. The balance of the roster is made up with sophomores. One of those sophomores is one of the returning letter winners.

In EL the Lady Tigers lost by eight points with a final score 51 - 43. Going in to the locker room at half-time they were down by 32 - 21. Coming out the Ladies fought back winning the second half 22 -19 against the Potters. Wellsville won the JV game 38 -34.

This past Thursday the Lady Tigers opened the home portion of the young season going up against the Beaver Local Lady Beavers. The final was 65 - 47 in that game but the Tigers repeated their second half efforts winning the last two quarters 33 -25. Wellsville topped the Lady Beavers in the JV game with a 35 - 20 win.

Beaver Local's half court press in the varsity game proved bothersome but was expected. The 29 turn overs was the killer in that game and they will be working on that. Even though they have come up short in their first two games against two teams out of their division we're encouraged with their don't give up spirit. With that fight back attitude and getting some playing time we know the Ladies aren't far from some wins.

The Lady Tigers travel to Leetonia next Thursday, December 10 and to Lowellville the following Monday, December 14. They return home Thursday, December 17 to face Western Reserve.

Good Luck Tigers! The collage above is from the Beaver Local game.
