Giving Back To The Community

This past Thanksgiving Day Bishop Bill Rudder and members of New Life Ministries Harvest House held their fifth annual free Thanksgiving Feast. Thanksgiving dinner with turkey, all the trimmings, pies and cakes were served to all that came in the door. The welcome mat was out for anyone and everyone whether you just needed a meal, some companionship or just didn't want to cook.

This year the Harvest House folks teamed up with Tonda Ross at her restaurant located in Wellsville's 4th St. Square. Tonda offered the use of the restaurant giving more seating capacity for the diners. She said it was just her small way to say thanks to all in the community for their support. It worked out well. There was no waiting in line.

The turkeys, potatoes and pies were cooked at the Harvest House on Main St. Bishop Rudder said they started cooking Wednesday morning. There were 11 turkeys, 75 pounds of potatoes and too many pies to count. Any left overs were being saved for the Wednesday evening Soup Kitchen. The folks at Harvest House offer free meals every Wednesday evening starting at 5 P.M.

Bishop Rudder wanted to thank the following for their generous donations that make this possible. His list started with Tonda, her family & staff followed by Vic & Crystal at Wellsville Feed, Robert's Funeral Home, Dailey Refuse, Beech Law Office, the Immaculate Conception Church, Covenant Presbyterian Church, DaLonzos, McGraw's Drive-thru, Elks Lodge 1040, the Pete Amato Foundation, Kat's Kitchen, Rob Parsons & Doug Darnell of PsyCare, Gibby's Market, the Lisbon Sparkle Market, Gordons Foods, The Carriage House, New Life Church members and Rev. & Mrs. Nightingale. Thanks also go out to all the volunteers such as Brenda Brush, Alyce & Gary Wagner, Kerry Dye, Joan McGuire, Mary Crago and all who cooked and baked.

Special thanks were given by Bishop Rudder to the celebrity servers such as Mayor Joe Surace, Susan & Jeff Haugh, WPD Officer Marsha Eisenhart & Chief Joe Scarabino and CC Commissioner Penny Traina. If anybody was overlooked it was purely unintentional. Thanks go out to you too.

It was heart warming to see so many people come together for this community effort. Some left a house full of company to give a few hours helping. It's another one of those things that truly make Wellsville some place special.

Thanks for the comment. Missed mentioning that when we left around 3 o'clock they had already served over 100 meals.

You are certainly correct. They are indeed "special people".
