Cathy Salter Memorial Dedication Set

As announced last week the new memorial for Cathy Salter at the Boy-With-The-Boot parklet is in place to be unveiled at a dedication ceremony. With a generous donation from the Wellsville Eagles Club renovation was made possible for this Village landmark.

A new flag pole was installed and the ground was covered in marble chips. Then the memorial to Salter was installed to complete the renovation. Salter was a Village native that lost her life in the NYC World Trade Center terrorist attack on 9/11. She was the daughter of Eleanor & the late Henry Salter.

The dedication ceremony will take place on Friday - December 11 starting at 1 P.M. Members of the WHS Band and Ebony & Ivory will provide musical selections. Mayor Joe Surace will act as Master of Ceremony and various dignitaries will have some brief remarks. Members of the Salter family, State Senator Jason Wilson, State Rep. Linda Bolen and County Commissioner Penny Traina have confirmed they will be present. Representatives of the Wellsville Area Ministerial Assoc. will offer the invocation and bendiction. Some one from the WPD & WFD will be on hand to represent the fallen police and firemen that lost their lives on 9/11. Village officials are waiting for additional confirmations of a few more dignitaries.

The memorial stone was provided by Richardson Monuments. The new flag & pole was obtained from East Palestine's Flag Specialties. Robert's Funeral Home is furnishing the sound system. Councilman Tony Cataldo has spearheaded the Village's activities bringing it all together.

It's building up to be a meaningful ceremony for one of Wellsville's own.
