Things That Make You Go Hummm

This picture is of the new pumping station being built for the Buckeye Water District. It is located behind the car wash on Wells Avenue in Wellsville and the picture was taken from the railroad tracks. It is located where part of the old tin mill that was in town back in the early part of the 2oth century. Back when I was I kid I remember there being a brick foundation in that very spot from that mill. I asked one of the construction workers if they ran into a bunch of junk from the old mill. His response was "Why? You work for the EPA?" That's what makes me go hummm??? (photo by Ole Nib 3-2-07)

Sounds like they found something the EPA might find interesting.

I reckon they know that area floods from time to time and their pumps might get wet....Oh well

Hi!
I just happened upon your address at Ohio River Life and thought I would check it out. Very nice site and refreshing that people have opinions without being nasty.
However, since I found it, others will too and I hope it stays within these clean lines.
Welcome and thanks for a new outlet as I like to read what's on other people's minds, not nosy but just curious and fascinated.
Every opinion counts.

I wondered what was going on up there. I remember reading about the new pumping station but didn't put the proverbial 2+2 = 4 together. Maybe it was the ear deafening grating noise they are making. The last time I was at Sav a Lot I heard what sounded like metal grinding on metal ; similar to when the brakes need replaced on a car only 100 times worse. I feel sorry for anyone who lives in that area if that noise goes on all day. The price of progress I guess.

It seems as though one of the first sets of gunshots was actually reported to the polce and they showed up at the person's house who was SHOT AT, but nothing was ever in the paper about it. The person who was shot verified this himself. Just goes to show that not everything that is reported is put in the paper. I think the citizens have a right to know that something like that is going on in their town, especially knowing that the person was actually being shot at and they weren't just fired for no reason.

Was this person "shot' or "shot at"?

the person was "shot at", but was not injured.

You can't put things in the paper if the information is not given to reporters. Reporters can't beat the news out of cops (the way cops CAN beat information out of suspects, or so people often claim).
Papers can only report what they can find out. Why is the police department keeping this kind of stuff under wraps instead of being up front with the news reporters who cover down there every day?

5:35 that is exactly how I feel. It's funny because when shots were fired at Slammer's or people were found with guns that was in the paper because it was more in the public eye, but not as many people were aware of these other shootings so they must have thought that they didn't need to put it in the paper. Even if they never found who did it can't they simply state that shots were fired from an unknown suspect if anyone has any information please contact the Wellsville PD!!!!! People have a right to know what is going on in their backyard.
