Wellsville Drug Dealers Targeted

Details are still sketchy, very sketchy...  Around 10 AM this morning, June 5, members of the County Sheriffs Department, the County Drug Task Force, Federal Marshalls and the Wellsville PD started serving warrants all over the village.  We were told by Village officials they were armed with numerous  warrants.  Apparently it is another step taken in Mayor Susan Haugh's War on Drugs.

No too long ago the Mayor posted a "fair warning" on her Face Book page saying that officials were aware of who the drug dealers are and if they didn't leave town, they were coming after them.  To emphasize her point, just last week, she and Police Chief Joe Scarabino, along with other WPD officers went door to door passing out letters.  It was a second warning given to the suspected dealers.  This morning they made good on their promise.  Officers had to use their "universal key" in the picture above.  Two people were inside who refused to answer the door.

Since one of their first stops this morning was in our neighborhood we were able to get a couple of pictures shown here.  Now we have to try to get some additional information.

Personally we would like to give our thanks to all the officials involved this morning.  With the number of agencies and officers involved this didn't just get started yesterday.  There had to be a lot of planning.  It is certainly encouraging to see forceful, positive action being taken.

It is a very happy day in the 'ville. We are starting to take our village back. A HUGE thank you to Mayor Haugh for stepping up and standing up to the drug pushers. Thank you to the Wellsville PD and all other agencies who were here this morning.

So glad to see this. Years ago the streets were safe to even walk home from school. Now I don't trust my daughter to even walk from Daw :( Kuddos to Susie and ALL involved for trying to clean up the streets :)

Sue Haugh, thank you for being such an inspiration and encouragement to this town. I can't begin to imagine the amount of political bs, time, and persistance it took to plan something involving so many people. Please know that you have the support of so many of us.

I admire what the Mayor and the Chief are doing. I agree that the drug problem has gotten out of control in Wellsville. The real issue here is that noone realizes that selling drugs is an addiction just like alcohol. You get addicted to the money and the lifestyle it brings. The fact that there are no jobs in the area and little for our future to do is what pushes them in the wrong direction. More emphasis needs to be placed on job invention and growth to curtail such illicit activities.

I know this first hand because i used to be a dealer. I got caught and made a change for the good. I was the butt of jokes for my friends and family and felt i let everyone down that i knew. It is true that people can make a change and i did just that. Had to move from the area went to school and will soon have my Bachelors in Business Administration, with multiple job offers. It is hard to break free from the once a drug dealer always a drug dealer image, but it can be done.

So what i say to Wellsville is great job on what you are doing and to the PD keep up the Good work.

Keep up the good work, it's ridiculous what that town has become and it'll take more than this series of raids to eradicate the bolus of the drug dealers and the fiends that they prey upon. But, as the saying goes....the journey of 1000 miles starts with the first step; the first step was Monday.

I submit that the pushers and fiends will always be present in society, and even in the little town ofWellsville. The socioeconomics of situation, plus the current state of drugs and crime will be hard, if not impossible, to ever irradiate, which is why the only hope for Da' Ville is to mitigate the crackheads, dope-fiends, meth-heads, thieves, hookers, jag-offs, and Cleveland fans from ever gaining a foot hold again. Say a prayer!

Awesome job to the out of town police who took a "bite" out of crime! McGruff the Crime Dog thanks you! Keep it up!

Although we might agree that Cleveland fans, especially Cleveland Browns fans, are misguided creatures we really don't think they can be classified in the same category as the other miscreants you listed. That's a little harsh. It's like saying everyone in Cleveland are drug addicts, which we very much doubt. Surely there has to be some Steeler fans somewhere in or around the Cleveland area!

would love to know if a certain bar in town was issued a warrant too. everyone that has ever lived here knows how much drugs go through that bar. it is on main street. not hard to see driving by. i went in and got wings one time. i will never go there again. it was like walking into a drug dealer haven.

i am so sorry but drugs are the employer of many now and the government is the biggest supplier. count how many people in town are on ssi and get free precriptions to do nothing but turn around and sell them to the higest bidder. 100% pure profit. why get a job when the government gives you a free check and precription drugs to sell each and every month. so better be looking for ALL drugs. not hard to find

That's good and all but most of the doors they kicked were for warrants on child support issuesa nad had nothing to do with drug deals!

From our understanding they were "just" serving outstanding warrants. We were told they didn't have warrants to search the residences. Wasn't given an explanation but believe it was a lack of manpower.

thats my point . when are these tough crackdown going to happen. and i hate te repeat but never was any local business that are a know drug haven even mention. i have a huge problem with that. and feel that the stance of that bit speech of howthey are coming after you gets weakened but nothing really happening. any old say goes so what you mean and menad what you say. this is a small taown there is no reason to ever be understaffed to take down even the smallest. they have to know thay are you are you to hit hard and not stop. PERIOD. This isnt what us town people are seeing at all. So i think either do it or take back the bold statement/threat

These things have to be coordinated and done legally. Serving outstanding warrants took quite a bit of coordination with the four different agencies involved. It doesn't happen overnight. We believe that action initiated with the Mayor's Office and over time details were ironed out getting the others to agree to be involved, planning the strategy and taking the actual action.

Be patient my friend. When the Mayor announces that they ain't done we have grown to believe her. After only being in office a little over six months we are impressed with the administration's proactive approach. Illicit drugs will probably never be completely eradicated but the climate for the drug dealers is progressively becoming uncomfortable for theme to carry on their business in the 'ville.
