621 Main Gone

The building that use to stand at 621 Main Street in Wellsville is now history. It was torn down in late December. Owner Bill Roberts was quoted in the newspaper as saying "it had a bad roof and other problems" making it cost prohibitive to renovate.

We were told that it originally was Mortland Shoe Store. Later it was Homer Hill Jewelry & Watch Repair. The last business that used the place was Grinders Coffee Shop.

Roberts said he plans to use the lot for additional parking for the funeral home. The picture with the snow was taken today. Thanks to our friend Bob Lloyd for sharing the other two.

We can be like East Liverpool, and
have tons of parking and no business. While Roberts is at it,
why not clean up the front of the
Liberty Theatre. It looks like hell.

We'll have to ask what the philosphy for cold patch is with the new administration. It is only a temporary fix that doesn't last very long with weather that is moderate one day and freezing cold the next, especially for a cash strapped town. Slowing down would prevent a lot of "front end damage".

If fact we are wondering if you were mayor where would you find the money to pay that the "streets would be fixed not patched"? Do you have any idea of the cost of black top? Do you even have an inkling of the amounts in the Village's Street Funds or the budget woes faced by our fair town? We would be very interested in your ideas.

Peachy Clean - Do we detect a note of sarcasm? Your remark was insulting to the person mentioned and we found it mean and not in the spirit of cooperation.

Shame, shame...
