Daw Middle School Football

Daw's Middle School's football team is exciting to watch and hear about this year. As of last Thursday they are 4&1 on the year and we're predicting they will go on to be 6&1 by the end of the regular season. They have some "beef" on the line that opens the holes for some speedy, nimble footed runners to pick up some impressive yardage. When we first saw the team our impression was that we were seeing the Varsity team in pre-season practice. The coaches set us straight saying these guys go to Daw Middle.

So far this year they have defeated Jackson-Milton, Crestview, Lowellville and Southern Local. The Sept. 16 game at Sebring the game was called when thunder storms rolled in with "huge lightening bolts" as one team mom described it. That game won't be completed unless necessary for play-off rankings.

Pictured above is their game Sept. 23 at home against Southern Local. It was a 34-0shut out by the young Tigers. We missed it but the tone was set from the opening kick-off when tackle Seth Bloor picked up the ball, rumbled for miles to score a lineman's dream.

The Daw's team only loss on the season came last Thursday against McDonald up there. Head Coach Randy Thrasher told us they had trouble punching it in from the Red Zone with his two starting running backs and a starting lineman forced to sit out the game due to injuries. We're hoping the injuries aren't too serious and they will get to return to action this week.

The Daw Middle School Tigers return to action Thursday, October 7, on the road at Western Reserve. Their last scheduled game is at home versus Leetonia on October 14. Good luck fellows.

Stop down and get a glimpse of the future of Wellsville football. From where we're standing it looks very good.
