Congratulations Jan !

This past week-end quilting enthusiast Jan Wasko held a two day Quilt Show. Wasko is the owner and operator of O Sew Good Alterations on 5th Street in Wellsville. The collection of quilts were artfully displayed at the Wellsville River Museum. With many of the quilts being antique it was a very good setting for the show.

Even though the weather didn't cooperate with the Wellsville Historical Society's old fashion Ice Cream Social on Saturday the show was a huge success. There were nearly 100 visitors on both days of the exhibition.

The show was dedicated to the memory of late Irondale residents Annie Roberts & Mary Hicks. Those two ladies lived across the street from Wasko in her youth and were her inspiration in the art of quilting. Shown here is Wasko with quilts those ladies made. Wasko says she had a lot of help but...

In a world that is changing so fast, it was nice to go back in history; even if it was for only a moment. The Wellsville River Museum is as beautiful as I remember when I was a kid and it was a perfect setting for a quilt show. Most of those quilts were made in a time when that was your way to stay warm and they have persevered throughout time, showing up in Wellsville. Great job to those all involved!!!
