Wellsville High School Class Day 2011

The Wellsville High School Class Day was held Thursday, May 26, in the Tiger's Den. It was the first time the Class of 2011 appeared in cap & gown. There is 71 members of the WHS Class of 2011. There would have been 72 had Mathugh Johnston been able to be with them. Unfortunately it wasn't to be but rest assured that Mathugh was smiling down on his classmates. Although unseen you just knew he was there in spirit.

There were honors recognized, many rewards presented, thousands of dollars in scholarships and book grants awarded to many recipients. They are far too many to list each and every one of them. So, we'll let pictures do the talking. You can left click on any one collage to enlarge for a better look.

By this time the Class of 2011 are now officially alumni of WHS. They graduated this past Sunday. Congratulations to all...

Congrats Wellsville graduates! Can't believe the key chains that the top ten graduates got are misspelled. While questioning why, was told they were bought in bulk and has been mispelled for several years now. I can't believe they would keep passing them out knowing they were misspelled. Say's alot about how much they really care!

What key chains are you talking about?

I think the top ten were presented with this key chains at the Chamber luncheon. At least they FINALLY got the top ten correct !

If you knowingly give mis-spelled gifts to top ten students, you might be ghetto!!

The keychains are not from the school district.

This year's Top Ten had alot of shifting at the bottom after 4th nine weeks grades were posted. The Top Ten was never wrong, there were just last minute changes that happened when final grades were posted. Until then, the Top Ten is just a guess.

Actually there was shifting at the top as well 2nd and 3rd switched palces! and the top ten was wrong, it was based on grades that weren't earned yet as well as Grades from the kent students not tabulated at all! The board will be addressed in this matter and it should never happen again. It is sad for the students involved!

It's sad? Isn't that a little melodramatic? Is there that big of a difference between 2nd and 3rd? Was the top ten correct on graduation day? Once you're accepted to a college, no one cares where you graduated in your class. It's sad? My goodness! lol People making a huge deal out of something that just isn't THAT big of a deal.

It is sad for those students involved. When you have worked hard for that position and honor it means everything. It may not matter a year from now but it matters at the time alot! Especially for the one who was 9th and 6 days before graduation she isnt even in the top ten. Colleges awarding scholarships often require you be in the top 10-15% of your class when you graduate in such a small class 1 spot can mean alot! It was handled poorly by administration! and could have easily been avoided!
