Riverside Presbyterian Sidewalk Cafe

Here's an annual, traditional event that's not normally tied in with the reunion but this year it was scheduled for anyone attending the 5 Year All-Class Reunion to enjoy. The good folks over at the Riverside Presbyterian Church had their Sidewalk Cafe on Thursday, July 1. Their prayers were answered. You couldn't have asked for better weather with bright sunshine, a cooling breeze and big fluffy clouds passing over the beautiful valley while dining along the scenic river. It was nothing short of an idyllic setting and from our vantage there were lots of customers that enjoyed it.

Diners had their choice of eating outside, some under canopies or eating inside. This year it was set up buffet style. That was a first for us. The last time we enjoyed having lunch at the Sidewalk Cafe the meals were served by waiters & waitresses. Setting up cafeteria style made your menu selection that much tougher. Knowing everything was homemade and each selection looked delicious it was hard to settle on just one thing. There was four main entrees along with various types of salads. The dessert table was very crowded with the many types of pies and cakes. There were more selections than most commercial eateries can boast about and that made for some tough decisions.

The cafe was scheduled to run from 11 in the morning until 1 P.M. We got there a little after the noon day hour to find all the tables full. By the time we had our lunch and was preparing to leave the tables were still full with more people arriving at 12:45. We don't think they were out of there by one. The cafe is usually run three Thursdays in a row but we were told this year it was a one time event.

It was a delicious taste of home in the finest Wellsville tradition. The good folks at RSP did themselves proud and we know Aunt Marge was smiling down on them the whole time.
