Snow Removal Continues

Thursday - February 11: They been at since late Monday evening going nearly 24 hours a day. Here are a couple of pictures of the huge amounts of snow that have been removed from the Village Streets. One is located at the Intermodal Park at the lower end of town in Wellsville and the other one, with the police cruiser beside it, is behind Village Hall. From what we saw at the I-Park they could have completely filled the parking lot behind Village Hall.

Mayor Joe Surace & other Village officials estimate that $25,000/$30,000 has been spent so far in the snow removal efforts. That includes over-time hours, fuel, food & contractors. Figures for the costs are presently being compiled for reimbursement from FEMA. An article in the morning papers reported that the county already nearly surpassed the minimum amount required to be eligible for FEMA reimbursement. That minimum amount is $362,000 and so far submitted costs by various townships and the County Engineer's Office total over $216,000. None of the cities, towns or villages have submitted their totals yet. An official from the Ohio EMA was expected to meet with CC EMA officials today.

Whatever the cost it was well worth it.
