What's A Mem Roy?

Here's something the newer members of the Tree Board may want to consider. The donor that paid for this paver is a former ville resident that now lives in California. She bought the paver in M E M O R Y of her late father, Dr. Raymond Provost and her grandmother, Elizabeth Fisher. It's located in the sidewalk closest to 9th Street in Broadway Park.

A couple of years ago the former Broadway Park Committee started selling memorial pavers to raise funds for the park's renovation. That committee is now the village's Tree Board. The donor for this particular memorial was in town for the recent Italian Festival. It was her first opportunity to see the brick. Imagine her disappointment when she found it with a glaring spelling error.

Her disappointment turned to disgust when the only member left on the committee, at the time, told her, in essence, that she would have to live with it. It could not be corrected. It really put a sour note on her vacation.

I'll be the first to admit mistakes happen. It's a way of life. Usually you say oops and start over. I spent enough of my working career in customer service jobs to know that if a mistake is made you apologize to the buyer and get the error corrected. It reflects on the honesty of the seller to eat the loss and do the honorable thing having the mistake corrected. One of the former members of the Tree Board purchased a special tool to handle the task of pulling up pavers to be replaced. It was originally intended to replace some of the blank ones with newly purchased memorial ones. That paver can be replaced with a corrected one.

Hopefully the newly appointed members will take it upon themselves to get this corrected.

This paver needs to be replaced no question about it. The newly appointed members of the tree board should make it happen.

One of the reasons former tree board members resigned. When the pavers were ordered, only one member had the orders and did the ordering all by their self. No other member was involved to be able to go over the order, check for spelling or proofread before sending off the order.

Just live with it, yes that sounds like her. Surace take her off, you know she's trouble. This only makes you look bad. Everybody knows she's trouble, including you. You need to correct this wrong, cause we can just live with you anymore.

Hopefully the newly appointed members will get a new paver for this women. I am sure she is upset and they need to make it right.

Are memorial pavers still available? If they could manage to spell it correctly, I might like to purchase one.
Any idea who I'd need to contact?

Last I heard they are still selling memorial pavers. Think Dawn Johnson is in charge of that.
