Mighty Mouse Comes Out Again

Read all about it in today's local papers. He made the front page of both. Even got his picture in the MJ. Thanks to Google Images we found a better one.

Claiming that he has become a target and is being threatened he crossed all the t's and doted the i's and refiled his complaint with the Ohio Elections Commission. We did a couple of pieces back in November on this subject. I'll refrain from other comments until after the probable cause meeting February 28th. According to Jeremy we should know what the commission decides to do with this after their meeting.

I guess I just don't get it. Why not expend that energy doing something positive for the village instead of rehashing old vendettas? Which it seems like this is.

Mighty Mouse, that's great, good one. That's about what he is too, a damn mouse.

It boggles the mind as to why some believe it is okay for a politician to deceive the public.
This is the reason the country is in the shape that it is in. The people have just sat back and overlooked corruption, greed, and lies instead of stepping up, speaking out and trying to put a stop to the nonsense.

I agree with anonymous. Just because Surace got re-elected doesn't mean an election violation is "old news" or,worse yet, a vendetta.
If it turns out to be true, then I commend John McClelland for ferreting out the truth.
If it turns out teh commission finds it to unfounded, I still commend John McClelland for trying to ferret out what he thought was the truth, rather than sitting back and turning a blind eye to something that looked like a violation.
There is way too much of that which goes on in this county. Maybe we should take a look at the recent headlines of public officials who FINALLY got caught doing things they probably have done a million times, until SOMEONE stepped up to the plate and took them to task.
These public officials shall remain nameless but we all know who they are.

To anonymous..this country is not in the shape it is in because politicians used tax payer money to send election stuff in the mail. If this did happen it is only a lousy fine. I have a feeling mighty mouse is paving the way for a shot at running for mayor.

Get your papers right! Jeremy works for The Review, and he does a DAMNED GOOD JOB.

to a fan:

you need to re-read the post because I think you are a little confused.

Polly:

Whether it's a simple fine or not, it is still justice. Apparently you don't have a problem with deceit, but some of us do. Even if Mr. McClelland has plans for running for mayor, that's four years down the road, so how is that a political gain now? And you are wrong, this is exactly why the country is in the shape it is in. It always starts out with the small stuff.

I do have a problem with deceit and lies and corruption, but this borders on ridiculous and there is a time to move on. I do not think this has anything to do with standing up for what is right and honorable but more about personal vendettas and a possible run for mayor down the road. I think mighty mouse only cares about pursuing justice, depending on who it is.

[QUOTE:To anonymous..this country is not in the shape it is in because politicians used tax payer money to send election stuff in the mail. If this did happen it is only a lousy fine.]

It's this type of thinking that allows corruption to thrive in all aspects of society. I don't care if a politician does something illegal to get 50 cents that he or she shouldn't, it's WRONG. I agree with the other poster: it starts with the small stuff, then they decide they got away with that, so let's try something a little bigger and so on.
You who think it would be OK to illegally run a campaign because it's just a "small" infraction with a "small" fine attached (I'm not sure that's actually correct, either) are too sad for words.
No wonder our country is in the shape it's in when citizens are willing to turn a blind eye to a crime, just because they consider it a "minor" one.

What the hell is "a fan's" problem? I don't think your post said anything about Jeremy L being with the MJ. Both papers carried the story and the MJ did have mcclelland's picture...so what's your beef?
Goofy.

Note: One comment about things you can or can not do in this county rejected because of a racial slur. That's a no-no.

If you have a problem with deceit then why don't you have a problem with a candidate lying about using his own personal money to mail out the prescription savings cards, when in fact he may have used campaign funds and he stated that the prescription cards were not political? This makes no sense to me. I don't know why he didn't use the cards as part of his campaign to begin with, it was a brilliant idea. Instead, he lied to his constituents and if he lies so freely about something so trivial as prescription cards, what else may he be lying about? Like I said, it's starts out as the small stuff and it only grows bigger each time a politician gets away with it. Remember that politicians are suppose to answer to the people no matter how small or stupid the question may be.

Oh, I forgot. Ole Nib and Matt aren't professional writers, no matter how much they like to pretend they are. They can't be expected to write clear sentences.

Check out Tom Giambroni's story in today's MJ on line about the Amato case.
Funny that he seemed to think it strange that the special prosecutor asked the defence if it wanted to present information to the grand jury.
Gee, sure wish my relative had had that opportunity when the grand jury met for his case. Instead, they only heard the so-called "victims" side of the story, which now appears to be mostly lies as he waits to go to court and probably jail based on the victim's side.

Fan - You're right. I am not a professional writer but I do try to put coherent sentences together. You're entitled to your opinion. Matt, on the other hand, is what I would consider a pro. Prior to his career at KSU EL as an English professor he was a much publicized reporter. Getting your writings into the print media earned him that title.

Had to reject a second comment. This one was regarding Matt Stewart's reason for leaving the newspaper business. It was interesting but something that is instantiation. If true it explains a lot to me but it doesn't alter the fact that Matt's writings have been printed many times. Also it wasn't relevant to the subject of the post. Sorry "...to me".
