Thanks Tigers For Exciting Season

We've been mulling over for two days what to say on the disappointing end to the WHS Men's Basketball season. We're not disappointed with the Tigers. Things happen. Everyone has an opinion on why they happen. We're disappointed for the guys, the players, coaches and all the folks that contributed to this remarkable season.

Believe us when we say "remarkable" we sincerely mean it. We followed this team all season. We took thousands of photos. We got to know many of them. We feel we learned quite a bit about all of them. We were impressed with the athletic talent and team work we observed around the perimeters of the basketball court. Sure there were some low points but after kicking it around for a couple of days the highlights far outshine any disappointments. We could go on ad infinitum about those special times during the games we saw that just made us say "wow!"

Wellsville has had other exciting teams in the past. We're not taking anything away from them. This year's team has to rank right at the top with the ones from the past. It was our first team we had the opportunity to follow closely.

We can analyse the game that ended the season. We can quote verbatim what was said by the WHS Sports Station announcers during that game, what Coach Skinner said during his half-time interview and what Bug had to say in his post game observations. We recorded it for our archives. However there have been thousands of words written expressing all that in the print media not to mention all the conversations since then. With a 78 -46 loss to McDonald this year's team wrapped up a 20 & 3 season this past Monday.

The 2009 -2010 Basketball Season is now in the history books. It's over. It's done. Except for memories there is no going back, but man, what memories there are. It's time to move on but before we do we wanted to say thanks.

In our book you guys are the greatest. The only losers are the ones that didn't even try, the ones that didn't come out for the team. The whole team, the coaching staff, the Cheerleaders, the ball boys and anyone else we may be overlooking can stand tall. You not only contributed to Tiger Pride you contributed to Wellsville Pride.

To the five seniors, Jeremy Carter, DeShon Pullie, Nunzio Lombardozzi, Jordan Dalrymple & Nick Broughton, we wish you all the best as you move on to graduation. Your sportsmanship has been exemplary. Whatever you set out in life to do we're confident you will do it well. Good Luck!

With the underclassmen on the team we're already looking forward to next season. It's their turn. Two of them played every game and some only saw limited action but there is a load of basketball talent ready to step in. With some off-season honing of their skills next season's Tigers won't miss a beat.

Pictured above is the '09 - '10 Team. Kneeling in the front, from the left, is Nunzio Lombardozzi, DeShon Pullie, Michael Johnston, Nick Dalrymple, Jake Coles and Coach Dave Thompson, Jr. From the left in the back is Head Coach Dave Thompson, Sean Hudson, Markus Allison, Jalen DeSarro, Nick Broughton, Jeremy Carter, Jordan Dalrymple and Coach Lonnie Fields. Allison, Coles & Nick Dalrymple left the team early in the season.

Once again, thanks for the great season. Now it's on to baseball and track...
