Recommended Reading

I just read Matt Stewart's piece on his blog entitled "The price of stupid jokes" and I highly recommend you all read it if you haven't already done so. The subject is about Don Imus's comment about the Rutger's Girls Basketball team. It is something I feel strongly about and there have been some interesting comments already even though it was just posted today.

So give it a looksee and make your comments. You can find it at www.ohioriverlife.blogspot.com.

To Matt I say you got a good one going. It's interesting to see what's being said. I just got one question that an English professor should be able to answer. Shouldn't you have used more caps in the title? :-)

Greetings Nib, and thanks for the ORL link. The Imus issue is interesting in so many ways. Since I wrote that piece yesterday morning, CBS has fired Imus, so the story still has legs.

As for titles and caps, ORL tends to use the standard "newspaper" approach to titles/headlines, which caps only the first letter of the first word. Any proper noun (names) would be capped as well. This style for titles is becoming more and more prevalent in journalism beyond newspapers as well.

Went to ORL and read Matt's Post. Wait till Nov. 2008 when the red states vote red and the blue states vote blue and the costal liberals wonder why again.

Ol Nib, you said you "feel strongly" about the Imus situation but didn't offer any comments here.
I would like to hear them.
