The entertainment throughout the festival was outstanding and Day 3's line-up was no exception. Leading off Saturday's line-up was Pittsburgh's Mirella Volpe as Mirella - The Musician. She is a very talented one woman entertainment package and had the audience singing along and dancing. This is her third year playing at the festival.
Following Mirella was rising star and Detroit native Aaron Caruso. Caruso has been coming back to the festival for nine years now. His good friend Joe LaScola told me they first saw Aaron perform at a SOI State Convention in Columbus several years ago and invited him to take part in Wellsville's annual festival. Caruso has ever since made a spot in his busy schedule to come back every year. Caruso now makes his home in Connecticut and on October 2 will appear playing the part of Mario Lonzo at Carnegie Hall. This year is the 50th Anniversary of the death of that world renown Italian tenor. Caruso is also in line to play the younger Lonzo in a planned for Broadway production. Feeling his career got a kick start in Wellsville he has a voice you can listen to all evening. His rendition of Ave Maria rates right up there with Lucianno Pavorati in my book. He's a good looking fellow and his singing a love ballad to a young Sarah will have her swooning for years.
Before Caruso took the stage the SOI #657 All Italian Band sang the "Italian National Anthem".
While the next act was setting up the audience was entertained with a very talented Paul Lucas singing a list of traditional songs.
Closing out the night and the festival was the ever popular Wellsville's Route 45 Band. This talented C&W band had a gang of followers evident in their bright green or orange t-shirts in attendance well before they took the stage. They are always a crowd pleaser with their style and rhythms.
The sound system was handle by DC Music for all three days of the festival. They did an outstanding job.
