Broadway Park Dedication

Shown here are a couple of speakers and brothers that generously donated toward the Broadway Park renovation.

Broadway Resident Dawn Johnston is one of the original members of the Broadway Park Committee. She gave a brief history of the park. In 1895 John Birch was paid the princely sum of $110 to plant the first trees in the park. Most of those trees were still around when the committee had them removed in 2005.

Robert's Funeral Home owner Bill Roberts told the audience he had found memories of playing in the park back in the mid-1950s when his family lived on Broadway. He said he remembered that many of the old trees were hollow even back then and, as a resident, is proud of the clean & crisp new look. Praising the work of the committee he stated that the park is now one "of the foremost parts of Wellsville". Robert's Funeral home was a donar for this project.

Brothers Phil & Russ Corsello were two more of the many ville residents that generously donated to the parks new look. The Brothers are both WWII veterans. Phil was stationed at Pearl Harbor when the Japanese bombed it and served in the Pacific. Russ served in the European Theater.
