Boy With The Boot Way Before Floodwall

Here's a new picture, for us, we thought we would share with you. The date of the photo is unknown. The car on the long gone Lisbon Street bridge is about the only clue. We don't know what it is but we're thinking something along the Model T line.

We do know it was way before the floodwall, obviously. You can see a piece of what was known as the East End Viaduct to the right. There's early 1900s pictures of it. The old Viaduct was originally a streetcar bridge and today is the Wells Avenue bridge. The old Lisbon Street bridge was knocked off it's piers in 1937. The only thing we can make out from the billboards is an advertisement with “black face” actors and one with the Chevrolet emblem. It predates the time a replica cannon was on the edge of the Boy's parklet. We're thinking circa 1920s. How about you?

The photo is property of the Wellsville Historical Society. We've included a history of the Boy that was in a 1990 All-Class Reunion brochure. You can click on either picture to enlarge.

Hey Sandy, my new friend in Canton – enjoy.
