WHS Volleyball Shut Out For The Week

Last week was one that Coach Dan McKinstry and the Lady Tigers are glad that is behind them. Tuesday's heart breaking loss to the Fighting Beavers appears to have taken its toll and set the tone for the rest of the week. There is nothing better than beating the Beavers, a long time backyard rivalry. The second better thing is revenging an earlier loss to the Beavers. For the Lady Tigers it doesn't matter that the Beavers are a bigger division team. They know they have the talent to beat 'em. Unfortunately for both matches this year it didn't work. The Tigers lost to the Beavers 3-0. The WHS Reserves also lost to the Red & White 2-0.

Following the upset on Tuesday the Lady Tigers took it on the chin against ITCL rival Jackson Milton 3-0 at home on Thursday. That match looked like it was going to go five sets but the Lady Jays got hot at the last minute in all three sets to pull it out. We got the impression the Orange & Black team looked tired after giving it their all Tuesday evening. The collage above is from that match. The Lady Tiger J.V.s won their match in that game 3-1.

Saturday the Ladies travelled to Edison Local for a tri-match against Edison and Oak Glen. The Tigers lost the first match to Edison 2-0 and then to Oak Glen 2-1.

Except for the 13 point loss in the first set against Beaver Local all of the rest were single digit differences. The Lady Tigers never quit fighting all week. It was just one of those weeks that the cards failed to fall the way we hoped. It's history now. They are tied with Jackson Milton in the lower tier at 7&1 on the year in league play.

The Lady Tigers return to action tomorrow night on the road at Sebring. Wednesday they travel to Heartland Christian and come home Thursday to close out their 2010 home schedule against the Leetonia Lady Bears.

Hold your heads high Ladies. Put last week behind you. You're a good team and Wellsville is proud of each and every one of you. In our book you're the best.

You got six matches left on the regular season. Show 'em how a Lady Tiger can roar...
