"Brother, Can You Lend A Dime?"

The members of Wellsville's Elks Lodge 1040 is sponsoring a benefit dinner-dance this Saturday to help out a brother. Shown here is Bro. Mike Cook. What was originally thought to be a simple procedure with a short recovery, hit a snag. As the newspaper said he is "recuperating from complications after surgery in Pittsburgh". That snag resulted into a longer than anticipated stay in the 'burgh and recovery.

Whether needed or not the good brothers & sisters of the Wellville Elks wanted to lend a hand by holding a benefit spaghetti dinner and dance. It is scheduled to take place this Saturday, October 9. The dinner will be served from 4 to 7 P.M., followed by the dance. There will also be a Chinese Auction with lots of nice stuff. The cost is $7 for adults and only $4 for children 12 and under for the dinner. Take-outs will be available. There will not be any advanced sale of tickets. The Elks Lodge is located at 723 Riverside in the ville. The benefit is open to the public.

In addition to his day job, Cook is a member of the Wellsville School District Board of Education, the CC Career Center BOE and an assistant coach for the Wellsville High School Girl's Basketball program. The picture shown above was taken at their game against Toronto last January 9. He is also a member of Wellsville's BPOE 1040.

Mike is a husband, a father and an all around good guy. Here's a chance to enjoy a delicious spaghetti dinner with all the trimmings and to say Good Luck, Get Well Soon to our friend.

It was a very nice turn-out. As one member mentioned it is really nice how folks respond to lend a hand. Buckeye said they went through 40# of pasta. That's a lot of pasta...

Wellsville is truly some place special.
