Veterans Day 2009

Tomorrow, November 11, is Veterans Day. With two wars still dragging on it doesn't seem quite right to say Happy Veterans Day. Although we thank them and wish the best to all those that have served we still pray and worry about America's sons & daughters currently serving in the face of danger. We pray that the wars in the Mid-East will soon conclude and we pray the Good Lord will watch over all Americans where ever they are stationed.

Veterans Day was first observed November 11, 1919. By a proclamation by President Woodrow Wilson that day was declared a day of remembrance for all Americans to recall the tragedies of war. It was called Armistice Day until 1954 when an Act of Congress changed it to Veteran's Day to honor all vets.

Wellsville's Veteran's Memorial Council will hold their annual Veteran's Day Program tomorrow at the WHS starting at 1:50. It's free and open to the public. WWII Vet & Memorial Council President Melvin Boggs with handle the introductions. The Korean War Veterans Color Guard will present & retire the colors. Remarks will be made by Korean vets George Piggott & Bill Wolfe. Guest speaker will be Wellsville son Sgt. Todd Farnsworth. Memorial Council member Debbie Koffel with introduce the guests and offer a few brief remarks. Prayers will be offered by Pastor Dirk Hall.

It's suppose to be a nice sunny day tomorrow. It would be heart warming to see that gym filled with thankful supporters for all our veterans. It's the least we can do. The picture above was borrowed from Google images. See you tomorrow...
