At last Thursday's Wellsville Area Chamber of Commerce luncheon Nick's Pizza was named the September Business of the Month. Located at 349 Main Street in Wellsville, it has been at the same location since 1954. The well known pizza shop was named for the original owner and operator, Wellsville Legend Nick Checkler.
Checkler got started in the pizza business with some advice from his good friend Primo DeCarlo. Nick personalized his own sauce recipe when he opened and that recipe is still used today by his daughter Pinky and Nick's great grandson Patrick Gill. For some former Village residents getting a piece of Nick's pizza is one of their first stops when they travel back to visit us. For 57 years it's still the same great taste!
