WHS Tigers Move To 5&1 On Season

The Wellsville Tigers played a make-up game last Thursday that the Leetonia Bears are probably wishing they would have just forgot about. Opening with a 31-13 lead after the 1st quarter the Orange & Black made it no contest against the Bears. They beat the Bears inside, outside and smothered them with defense. You could almost say it was Wellsville basketball at its finest.

Michael Johnston lead all scorers with 24 points and 10 assists. Jalen DeSarro recorded another double-double with 18 points and 11 rebounds. DeSarro also had seven assists. Freshman Nate Scott contributed four 3-pointers, grabbed six rebounds and dished out three assists. Sean Hudson added another 12 points and Christian Kapp racked up eight points and 10 rebounds. Johnston had two 3-pointers as part of his total and Josh Carter put up another six points.

The Tigers had a convincing 82-59 victory over the visiting Bears. The win moves them to 5&1 on the season and 3&0 in the ITCL. Their only loss was a non-league game at East Liverpool.

The Reserves had an even more convincing win besting the Leetonia JVs with a final score of 62-32. Wellsville's Camden Douglas had a game high of 16 points followed by Mike Call with 14 points.

The Tigers get back to action in league play tonight when they travel to Berlin Center to take on Western Reserve. Friday they're back on the bus traveling to McDonald. Even though it's a different team from last year the McDonald Blue Devils were the only opponent the Tigers lost to in the 2009/2010 season. We're thinking it's pay back time, baby! The Tigers have what it takes in our opinion. If you can't make it to the game you can catch all the action on the web with WHS Sports Station as Joe, Rodger & Bud call the game.

Good Luck Tigers....
