Monday - December 7: Wellsville's Carnegie Library hosted their annual Holiday Open House Monday evening. The ER's reporter Katie Schwendeman had a super write-up in yesterday's edition in both the ER & MJ. According to Katie the Open House was attended by around 40 youngsters of all ages, most of them dressed in their jammies for the bedtime stories.
Stories were read by Ila DeJane, Lori Klakos, Cindy Whiteman & Children's Librarian Toni Lloyd to begin the evening. We got there too late for Ila's & Lori's stories but noticed that Cindy &
Toni were doing the best they could to entertain the young audience. As Katie mentioned there were frequent, anxious glances toward the front door checking to see if Santa got there.

It was instant excitement when the jolly old elf arrived with his sack over his shoulder and bells jingling from both arms. He was the highlight of the evening. Santa listened to all the wishes for Christmas presents and promised he would do the best he could to fill the orders. He reminded the children that they had to promise to be good all year long, help at home and make sure they got to bed and asleep, especially on Christmas Eve.
Each child got a packet of reindeer food from Santa. Santa said his favorite cookie is peanut butter but the reindeer need a treat too on that busy night. Along with the reindeer food each child got a cup of Christmas treats from the library staff.
Thanks to the Friends of the Library and the local businesses that made it possible to keep this Christmas season tradition possible. Except for December the Friends meet the 4th Thursday of every month. The next meeting is scheduled for Thursday, January 28, 2010. Applications for different levels of membership are available at the Library. Your help is greatly appreciated.

Ole Nib, Thanks for putting the pictures of the kids at the library. I appreciate it as always and not because you have one of my little ones on there. (The one in the green PJs with the monkey)
Tim Long, Oh and again I cannot thank you enough for the coverage of the Dash for Mat's Bash.
Tim - Are ya talking 'bout the little darlin' dancing with her hands in the air?
Think she was practicing crossing the finish line after running a marathon! :-) Wonder where she got that idea?
Merry Christmas...
