Wellsville Historical Society Christmas & Installation Dinner

Tuesday - December 8: The Wellsville Historical Society held their annual Installation & Christmas Dinner at the River Museum Tuesday evening. The affair replaces the regular monthly meeting for December.

Attended by 40 plus members the dinner was catered by Brickers from East Liverpool. President Robert "Brassy" Beresford, resplendent with his Christmas tie, thanked all there for the help provided over the year that made 2009 a very successful. We think Brassy has a special tie for every holiday on the calendar and they look good on him.

The tasty dinner consisted of either stuffed pork chops or a chicken dish, mashed potatoes with gravy, mixed vegetables and an assortment of different pies for dessert. The portions served left no room for seconds. Following dinner President Beresford installed the officers for 2010. See our report dated 11/18/09 for a list of officers.

After the installation the entertainment was a white elephant sale conducted by Brassy pictured above. Each member that attended the get together Tuesday evening was asked to donate an item with a maximum value of $5 or less. The whole group got into it and the auction was a spirited conclusion to an enjoyable evening. Sorry Brass - even a small jug of "hootch" costs more the five bucks these days!

As always new members are welcome and the dues remains a very affordable $5 per year. Contact any member to get an application to one of the state's finest and active historical groups.

The next regular meeting is Tuesday, January 19, 2010, at 7:30 at the museum on Riverside.

Wellsville's Historical Society wishes everyone a Very Merry Christmas, a Happy New Year and a safe holiday season.
