With beautiful weather, getting the word out and possibly with the economy, the 6th Annual Village Yard Sale appeared to be a huge success this past Saturday, September 5. Having the largest number ever registering for spots at Village Hall there were sales from one end of the Village to the other. There seemed to be sales on nearly every street we travelled and I even saw some signs advertising for places outside the Village limits.
The missus & I started out at Village Hall. The sale started at 9 A.M. and by 9:20 that lot was fairly full as shown above. We then went back "uptown" to the Road House restaurant that is being fixed up by the new owners. From there we started working our way back down the street. Once we got to 6th St. we were able to park near a corner and walk down one side and back up the other checking out the different spots that dotted both sides of the street before moving on to the next block.
Around 9th St. I ran into Committee Chairman Nunzio Lombardozzi who admitted he was a bit over whelmed with the response and turn-out this year. He remarked this is really great for the Village. EL businessman Dave Marshall stated that this is the sort of thing he talked about a few months ago with the different communities joining forces to promote each other. With the traffic and the amount of shoppers it was obvious they weren't all from Wellsville. Marshall and his better half were just a couple of EL folks we came across. I hadn't seen that much traffic on Main Street since the days Route 7 went through the middle of town.
Lombardozzi wanted to thank all the people that participated and supported this year's sale. It is greatly appreciated. Any proceeds from renting spaces at Village Hall goes to the Fix-up/Clean-up Committee for supplies and equipment.

Special thanks to Nunzio and his committee. Once again someone makes the 'ville a special place to live.
