Wellsville's Immaculate Conception Parish Supported In Southern Florida

This house is located at 10133 Silver Maple Court, Fort Myers, FL.  It's in a gated community on the west coast of Florida.  The owner is listed as Peter Haladej.

We appreciate his showing support for the Wellsville parishioners.

We're not saying this Peter Haladej and Fr. Peter Haladej is one and the same person but...

What difference does it make if he has a condo? It was the diocese that did this- not the good friar...

Apparently you have been mislead. This is a single dwelling house in a new expensive real estate area. It is not a condo. It was estimated that monthly payments on a mortgage for this house would be in the neighborhood of $1,400 per month. We feel it is very ritzy for a humble servant of the Lord, if indeed it is the same Peter Haladej. Are your confirming that it is?

What's the chance there are two Peter Haladejs who are at all connected to or interested in Wellsville's Immaculate Conception Parish? While one hates to make assumptions, this home obviously belongs to "the good friar". What happened to the vow of poverty? While priests deserve to have some R and R just like the rest of us, it seems extreme that he would be able to purchase a vacation home. Where would he get this kind of money? Maybe I don't understand how it works, but don't priests have to give up all of their worldly goods when they are ordained? Just seems fishy......

It use to be called the "vow of poverty" but that may no longer be a requirement.

What he does with his money is none of your concern. You're barking up the wrong tree. If the church would let priests get married the church would still be open.

Priests do not take a vow of poverty only nuns. So what difference does it make if he has a house in Florida or California? What he does with his money is not our business!

That's the problem .....nobody cares what a priest does with his money. I wonder if it's really his hard-earned money. Designer clothes, shoes, new cars and a new $265,000 home paid in cash. Public record shows no mortgage but owned free and clear. I never realized a young priest could make enough to live such a lavish lifestyle.

Here's a novel idea: Why doesn't Wellsville Imaculate Conception withdraw from the Roman Catholic Church and start their own religion? They could permit married priests, take their church back and be a stand alone denomination! We need to start thinking bigger!

Fr. Abraham - You need to get a life! Sarcastic remarks does not become you. You're only showing your imbecilic thought process.

We're just simple folk here in Wellsville who's fathers sacrificed much to build and maintain the Immaculate Concept Church. Much of our lives has been part of that parish. We've been baptized there, educated there, married there and for many of us buried our loved ones there.

Why, we have no idea how to even begin to finance a vacation home worth over $1 quarter of a million dollars! Guess we'll just have to keep our faith and continue praying to a merciful God to find a way for our poor parish to be re-established.

God bless you...

Did anyone ever think that maybe Fr. Haladejs inherited money from someone? I just don't get this infatuation with his condo. Stay focused on the diocese.

Just the facts said...

I do not believe Fr. Peter inherited money. He had two fund raisers for his mother to help with her medical bills. One was in Girard while he was pastor there. The other was at Immaculate Conception Church soon after he arrived here. Knowing this, it seems impossible that he acquired his home in Florida through inheritence money. Look it up on the internet. It's public record!

Peter Haledaj, an unmarried man. That is how the deed reads. My question is, "If you were a doctor, professor, retired military officer, priest or bishop wouldn't you be proud and want your official title on the deed?" Such as Father Peter Haladej.
