WVFD Firemen's Homecoming

A sure sign that summer is just around the corner is the annual Firemen's Homecoming put on by Wellsville's Volunteer Fire Dept. This year they moved it back a week hoping for better weather than what they had last year. Last year's carnival was plagued with rain and cool temperatures.

This year they fared a little better but the weather still caused some problems. Opening night was cancelled with a drenching down pour and winds. Part of the field was covered in standing water practically knee deep in some spots. The fireman lost another bingo tent when the winds bent and mangled the the poles holding them up. In all there were three or four tents that received similar damage.

On Thursday the Wellsville School District help the fireman with maintenance personnel rounding up a couple of pumps, a back hoe and getting that water pumped off the field. There was a break in the weather and some sun that permitted the carnival to go on.

We split coverage of the Homecoming into four different posts to get maximum coverage with the pictures. You can click on any of the pictures to enlarge for a better look. We tried to get as many in the collages as possible. Scroll on down for the other reports.
