We're back to Lucille bashing. See the comments in the post before this. This past Sunday Mrs. Huston had an article on the Editorial page explaining how she went about getting Melvin Newlin nominated and selected for the OMHOF. It was a good piece until she got to her closing paragraph. She wrote "A fitting further tribute to Newlin, and to others from Wellsville who were victims of various wars, would be for them to have a place of honor on the Flood Wall murals being painted in the village". Evidently Lucille is a victim of fading memory.
Pictured above is some of the memorials we have in the village honoring the memory of our veterans. Although Newlin isn't singled out on the floodwall he is well honored in other places not to mention that State Route 7 is named after him for the portion that goes through the ville. The flood wall mural is dedicated "FOR ALL WHO MADE THE ULTIMATE SACRIFICE" and was sponsored by the Jerry & Gretchen Madden family in memory of Ernie Madden. It represents all the branches of our armed forces in all the wars from WWII to Desert Storm. That would most certainly include Newlin. Ernie Madden was a Viet Nam vet.
Thanks in large part to the Veterans Memorial Council, the Madden family and others our veterans are well remembered and honored. We're lucky to have such people with their dedication to preserving the memory of our veterans.

Lucille never lets the real facts get in the way of a story.. even if she has to insult all the people in Wellsville who have worked so hard to have monuments and tributes that honor our citizens who made the ultimate sacrafice. I think that for such a small place, we have many great memorials and I am proud of all of them!

Thanks for the great post. I just hope Lucille can see and read it. She should apologize for this blunder. This is one of her all time best. Probably should be in the Lucille Screwed Up Hall of Fame. She is always taking a shot when she can at the group who is doing the flood wall project. Reason: They wouldnt let her sit in and report on their meetings because SHE DIDNT KNOW HOW TO GET THE INFORMATION IN THE PAPER RIGHT.
Not only has her nose for news left her, I see her eye sight is shot too. However, your post is fantastic, and I really appreciate that you thanked the Madden family and others who have spent time and money to honor our fallen soldiers. Thanks Nib, your a peach.
The mural is beautiful. How can I get a sweat shirt with that mural on it. I have seen a couple of people around with something about the floodwall on. Does anyone know where you get these things.

You have quite the chip on your shoulder. I don't think Nibs job is to plaster everyone with complimets here. He calls them they way he sees them and if he gets feedback that changes his mind or makes him see things in a different light, he is big enough to say so. That is what blogging is. And by the way, some people agree with him and then again some don't. It is a free country where we are allowed to express ourselves including you. It just seems you are very angry and cant take it. Maybe blogging isnt for you. Keep up the good work Nib.
While I didn't agree with Nib's criticism of Holly S, he's right on in regard to Lucille whether you like it or not.
I think it would be cool to create a blog whose sole purpose is the cut down every word Nib and Matt utter, and see how long it takes them to start whining.
Shame - That would be fine with me. Put your money where your mouth is. Please let me know where to find your blog. I want to see if you can hit as hard as the three Hispanic thugs that gave me a whupping years ago when I broke up their craps game. Google has a very easy format to follow and it's all free. Can I assume you will be logical and not wallow in the mud of self pity?
